Reading this made my hand reach for my phone on autopilot and then my heart go, “Oh… right.”
Calling Mom just because I’m alone in the car, the brain doing denial gymnastics, time going all wobbly while love stays crystal-clear—ouch, yes, that’s exactly how it feels. Parking-lot hugs, fuzzy days, hope sitting right next to fear like they’re sharing a chair. Tender, honest, and very human in the quietest way. Holding this softly.
Here's what makes this gnarly: the content being copied isn't even good.
"Fix your posture. Drink water. When you look good, you feel good." This is fortune-cookie wisdom. Motivational slop.
The plagiarism isn't stealing brilliance. It's stealing mediocrity at scale. And that might be the more depressing realization.
The copiers aren't threatened by originality. They're betting (correctly) that the audience doesn't want originality. They want familiarity that looks like insight.
I'm just getting to this and wow does it resonate. I'm sorry to hear about your mom. Things definitely changed when my dad had his, but he did regain all strength and independence. It sounds like she is going to be a champion in physical rehab!
The driving part truly is the worst for me. It was after the stroke, after my mom's death, and now still 3 months after losing my father. It's truly the worst to want to call and share something you know they'd want to hear & then realize that's someone else's phone number now. :-(
I'm so glad to hear your dad regained his strength and independence. Things are improving for my mom, but there are still many hurdles to overcome. She went home last week, and they are adjusting to the new normal. I haven't been able to go and help them, which has been hard.
I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your parents. That is truly heartbreaking.
Saw this under a different post and came rushing. Thanks for sharing her story, she seems like a beautiful soul🥰. I pray you find comfort in the wonderful memories you have of her🫂
